Do You Think You Have Mold?

Mold spores exist in virtually all indoor and outdoor environments. Microscopic mold spores move through the environment flowing along air currents from doors, windows and AC/heating units. When exposed to moisture from liquid water or higher than than normal humidity levels, mold colonies can form. What is black mold?

Did you know that molds gradually destroy the things they grow on like drywall, wood framing and other organic materials? Controlling moisture in a home or business is the key to preventing unwanted mold growth that can have potential health risks for the occupants.

Call or Text Falcon Inspections at 817-701-8474 to schedule a free phone consultation. You can describe the situation and we can help you determine if there is a need to have an on site evaluation and testing done.

We provide full service mold consulting and can provide you with an inspection of a single area of concern or we can do a whole house mold inspection to determine the overall condition of your home or business. If needed, a mold protocol can be written for you and used by a licensed Mold Remediation Contractor of your choice. What is a mold Protocol?

The Mold Inspection Process

  1. Start with a call or text to Falcon Inspections at 817-701-8474 and we will schedule you a free phone consultation to help determine the need for an on-site inspection and testing.

  2. Falcon Inspections will come out to your home or business and carefully inspect your property for visible signs of mold and moisture.

  3. If needed we will take air or swab samples from affected areas and send these samples to an accredited lab licensed with the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) to get the results.

  4. After analyzing the lab results, Falcon Inspections will write a report or a protocol making recommendations that include instructions for a licensed MRC (Mold Remediation Contractor) to clean and/or remove the affected moldy materials if needed.

  5. Once the mold remediation has been completed by a licensed Mold Remediation Contractor, Falcon Inspections will then come back out to do a post remediation inspection and testing and send these samples to the lab for clearance.

  6. After the lab reports & visual inspection confirm a successful remediation, Falcon Inspections will issue you a Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation (CMDR).

Mold Prevention Tips

Since Mold requires moisture to grow here are some tips to help prevent mold from growing in your home or business.

  • Do not allow moisture to accumulate in a building from leaking water pipes, plumbing fixtures, appliances or HVAC systems. Repair and correct water leaks immediately.

  • Mold can form within 24-48 hours after an accidental discharge of water. Remove any standing water by mopping or blotting and dry affected areas as soon as possible.

  • Have HVAC systems inspected annually to avoid obstructions at condensation lines and drip pans.

  • Vent appliances such as dryers and bathroom exhaust fans to the outside to avoid moisture from accumulating inside or in attic and crawlspace areas.

  • Keep indoor humidity levels below 60%. 30-50% is ideal.

  • Dry wet or damp areas within 48 hours.

  • Maintain a proper ground slope away from your buildings foundation that provides adequate drainage.
